F70
The launch of Yamaha’s F70 changed customers’ expectations of outboards in this category forever.
Beating in the heart of the F70 is a unique four-cylinder, 16-valve design activated by a single overhead camshaft. The 4-valves per cylinder valvetrain has dramatically increased this outboard’s volumetric efficiency, effectively transferring more air and exhaust at a more efficient rate. This makes the F70 more fuel-efficient, promotes a stronger torque band and makes the F70 lighter than all four-stroke and direct injected two-stroke competitors.
The F70’s awesome performance offers huge versatility and makes it the perfect power option for a huge range of mid-sized fishing boats and pleasure craft.
The 70 horsepower is now available in both traditional Yamaha grey and new pearlescent white colour options, in a long shaft only.
Technical Specification
Great Acceleration The F70 provides outstanding holeshot and acceleration performance thanks in part to an advanced engine sensors that monitors and adjusts ignition timing for maximum performance and a gear case featuring a high 2.33:1 gear ratio, with specially hardened pinion, forward, and reverse gears for increased durability.
High-Output Alternator A 12-Volt 15-Amp high-output alternator ensures that power is always available to start the engine, even after long periods of idling or running at low revs. This not only provides extra starting power, but delivers sufficient power to run the wide array of on-board electronic devices used in modern boating.
Power Trim and Tilt Yamaha’s push-button trim control makes engine trim and tilt adjustments quick, smooth and easy, across a wide trim range. The negative trim settings allow for improved acceleration and the ability to bring the boat onto the plane more quickly.
Precise Throttle Control As air enters the F70, it is routed through a single throttle valve, to ensure the precise amount of air necessary for optimum power and fuel efficiency. It then enters each cylinder through individual long intake tracks, which are ‘pulse tuned’ to provide air at the precise volume and timing for maximum density and power.
Variable Trolling Control Yamaha’s variable trolling control allows you to precisely adjust the engine’s idling speed from 650 to 900 RPM in 50 RPM increments. The ability to finely tune the trolling speed allows fisherman to perfect their lure presentation when chasing different species of fish.
996cc 16-Valve SOHC Marine Engine The Yamaha F70 utilises an advanced 1.0 litre, sixteen-valve, four-cylinder marine engine, featuring a sophisticated single-overhead camshaft (SOHC), with four-valves per-cylinder valve-train for maximum power and efficiency. Weight is reduced while the intake valve area is increased 17%.
Electronic Fuel Injection The Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, injects the right amount of fuel into the combustion chamber at the optimum timing. This system takes into account engine speed and load requirements to achieve maximum engine performance including hot and cold starting and improved fuel efficiency.
Fresh Water Flushing System Simply connect a hose to the easy access connector to flush salt and dirt from the outboard without having to run the engine. Flushing the engine after each usage reduces corrosion and extends the engines life.
